Haval Yellow Tire Pressure Monitoring TPMS Warning Light

⚠️ WARNING / SERVICE REQUIRED

What Does This Indicator Mean?

The Haval Yellow Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning light illuminates on the instrument cluster when the vehicle’s Body Control Module (BCM) or dedicated TPMS module detects an abnormal operating pressure or a communication fault within the tire pressure architecture. Specifically designed for Haval SUVs, this indicator uses direct or indirect monitoring methods. Direct systems utilize radio-frequency (RF) sensor valves mounted inside each wheel assembly that continuously transmit real-time pressure and temperature data to the vehicle’s onboard receivers. Indirect systems monitor rotational speed discrepancies via the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) wheel speed sensors. When pressure in one or more tires drops approximately twenty-five percent below the manufacturer’s recommended cold inflation pressure, or if the system registers a sensor failure, low battery in a sensor, or a system calibration error, the yellow warning light is triggered to alert the operator of compromised vehicle safety and dynamics.

Can I Still Drive with This Light On?

Because this indicator features a yellow severity rating, it signifies a non-emergency cautionary state that still demands prompt attention. You can technically drive the vehicle for a short distance to reach a safe stopping location or a service station, but you must do so with extreme caution. Operating a Haval vehicle with significantly underinflated tires increases braking distances, degrades cornering stability, creates excessive tire shoulder heat, and drastically raises the risk of catastrophic tread separation or a blowout. Furthermore, chronically low tire pressure increases rolling resistance, which forces the engine to consume more fuel and accelerates premature tire wear. If the yellow light is flashing rather than remaining solid, it typically indicates a system malfunction rather than low pressure, meaning the vehicle cannot accurately report your tire safety status.

Common Causes of the Warning

  • Natural Ambient Temperature Drop: Pneumatic pressure fluctuates directly with ambient temperature, dropping roughly one to two PSI for every ten-degree Fahrenheit decrease, which frequently triggers the warning during seasonal transitions.
  • Puncture or Slow Air Leak: Embedded foreign objects such as nails, screws, valve stem core leaks, or damaged bead seals cause a gradual loss of pressure in one or more tire assemblies.
  • Depleted Sensor Battery or RF Interference: Direct TPMS sensors are powered by internal lithium batteries with a typical lifespan of five to eight years; when these batteries fail, or if external RF signals disrupt transmission, the module loses communication.

How to Diagnose and Reset It

To diagnose and clear the Haval TPMS warning light, begin by performing a manual pressure check of all four road tires—and the spare tire if equipped with a full-size monitored sensor—using a calibrated digital pressure gauge. Compare your readings against the factory placard located on the driver-side door jamb. Inflate or deflate each tire to the exact manufacturer-specified PSI. If all pressures are correct but the light remains illuminated, you may need to perform a system reset through the infotainment head unit or the instrument cluster multi-information display under the vehicle settings menu, selecting the tire pressure calibration or learn function. If the light persists after a reset, use an OBD2 diagnostic scanner capable of reading chassis and body modules to scan for specific TPMS diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), which will pinpoint which wheel sensor is failing to transmit or needs replacement.
