European versions of well-known models like the Opel Antara and the Chevrolet Captiva were equipped with the Opel A24XE or A24XF 2.4-liter gasoline engine from 2010 until 2018. These motors are essentially GM LE5 and LE9 models, which have been manufactured since 2006.

The A-series also includes the engines A20NFT, A20NHT, A28NET, and A30XH.
The engine was installed on:
- Opel Antara A (L07) in 2010 – 2017;
- Chevrolet Captiva C140 in 2011 – 2018.

Disadvantages of the A24XE engine
The timing chain drive with an unpredictable resource is the primary cause of these issues.
The front cover will also be added to the parts list if the chain is not changed in a timely manner.
Phase regulator malfunctions are frequently the cause of the engine’s unstable operation.
Increased oil consumption from the first kilometers is a complaint made by some owners.
Because the engine metal is so soft, make sure you use a torque wrench.
