Engine Volvo D16C610

The size of the cylinders and the primary bearing bolts are the only things that the Volvo D16C610 engine has retained from its predecessor. The new engine was created with the most recent technological developments in mind at the time of release. The inline six-cylinder engine was equipped with electronic control, unit injectors, and four valves per cylinder. A strong VEB engine decompression brake connected to the gas distribution system is now standard on the Volvo D16 C610.

There aren’t many differences between the two D16C engine modifications. For instance, the atomizer’s nozzles on a 550 horsepower unit have five holes, while those on a 610 have six. The motor is now 100 kg lighter (1270 kg). It operates more softly and quietly. This was made possible in large part by the oil pump and camshaft drive gears being positioned at the back. Because of the structure’s increased dependability, scheduled maintenance intervals have been extended to up to 90,000 kilometers.

The frame has three mounting locations for the engine. They are made up of vulcanized rubber components in brackets. A rubber piece (2) fastened to the front cross member and a cast steel bow (1) fastened to the front of the cylinder block make up the front center mount (A).

A holder for the fan belt roller (3) and belt tensioner (4) is located on the right side of the mounting. Between the front attachment and the cross member is a reaction bar (5). There are two parts to each of the two rear mountings (B). The flywheel housing and common transmission are fastened to the brackets (6) with bolts.
