Alongside the large-capacity N62B48 engine, its younger sibling, the N62B40, was also released. The N62B48 served as the model for this motor. The cylinder diameter was lowered from 93 mm to 87 mm, and a crankshaft with a piston stroke of 84.1 mm was installed in the cylinder block.

In contrast to the N62B36, the cylinder head was equipped with new exhaust manifold exhaust valves and modified combustion chambers. Silumin is now used to make the cylinder head. increased pipe section in the exhaust manifold. A new DISA two-stage variable length intake manifold is used in the N62B40. Engine management system Bosch DME ME 9.2.2.
N62B36, N62B44, and N62B48 are additional N62 modifications.

Disadvantages of the N62B40 engine
The motor’s primary issues are related to Valvetronic and VANOS system malfunctions; increasing oil consumption as a result of valve stem seal wear comes in second.
The most common causes of floating RPM are flowmeters or ignition coils.
Over time, crumbs from a collapsing catalyst are drawn into the cylinders; the generator housing sealing gasket and the crankshaft oil seal are frequently leaking.
