Infiniti Yellow Adaptive Cruise Control ACC Error Light

⚠️ WARNING / SERVICE REQUIRED

What Does This Indicator Mean?

The Infiniti Yellow Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Error Light illuminates on your instrument cluster when the vehicle’s Intelligent Cruise Control or Dynamic Cruise Control subsystem detects a fault, calibration failure, or operational interruption. Infiniti vehicles utilize a combination of millimeter-wave radar sensors mounted behind the front grille or bumper fascia and forward-facing optical cameras mounted near the rearview mirror to gauge the distance and speed of vehicles ahead. When the radar transceiver or optical module fails to establish a clear line of sight, experiences internal communication errors over the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus, or receives corrupted sensor data, the Unified Meter and A/C Amp or the Body Control Module triggers this yellow advisory indicator to notify the driver that automated speed and distance regulation is temporarily disabled.

Can I Still Drive with This Light On?

Yes, you can still safely drive the vehicle, but with an important caveat. Because this is a yellow advisory warning rather than a red emergency indicator, it does not mean your core braking, steering, or engine systems have failed. Your standard hydraulic braking and mechanical acceleration systems remain fully operational. However, your Adaptive Cruise Control and forward collision mitigation features will not function while the light is active. You must manually control your speed and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles until the system is diagnosed and repaired.

Common Causes of the Warning

  • Radar and Camera Obstruction: Accumulations of mud, heavy snow, road salt, or aftermarket grille covers blocking the millimeter-wave radar emitter or the upper windshield camera zone, disrupting the sensor’s signal reflection.
  • Radar Sensor Misalignment: Physical impacts, minor parking bumps, or structural shifts can knock the radar bracket out of its precise factory alignment, causing calibration errors.
  • CAN Bus Communication Faults: Electrical glitches, corroded harness connectors, or voltage drops in the wiring harness linking the radar module to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the ABS/VDC module.

How to Diagnose and Reset It

Begin your diagnostic procedure with a visual inspection of the front bumper area where the radar sensor is housed, as well as the upper windshield area around the rearview mirror, to ensure there are no physical obstructions or dirt buildup. Next, use an advanced OBD2 diagnostic scanner capable of reading chassis and network codes, rather than just basic powertrain codes, to check for stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the ICC/ADAS module. If a physical misalignment or sensor replacement has occurred, the vehicle will require a professional dynamic or static sensor recalibration using specialized Infiniti diagnostic software. Once the underlying mechanical, electrical, or cleanliness issue is fully resolved, clearing the historical fault codes through the OBD2 scanner will successfully extinguish the dashboard warning light.
