Jetour Yellow Blind Spot Monitoring BSM Warning Light

⚠️ WARNING / SERVICE REQUIRED

What Does This Indicator Mean?

The Jetour Yellow Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) Warning Light illuminates on the instrument cluster when the vehicle’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) detects a fault, calibration drift, or communication failure within the blind-spot radar network. Specifically engineered for Jetour models such as the X70, X90, and Dashing, this yellow indicator alerts the driver that the side-rear radar sensors, ultrasonic proximity modules, or the dedicated BSM control module are no longer operating within safe parameters. The system relies on dual high-frequency microwave radar transceivers mounted behind the rear bumper fascia to sweep adjacent lanes for moving traffic. When environmental interference, hardware degradation, or CAN bus communication dropouts occur, the central gateway module flags a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and disables the active safety overlay, safely illuminating the amber warning indicator on your dashboard.

Can I Still Drive with This Light On?

Yes, you can physically drive the vehicle, but you must do so with heightened situational awareness. Because the warning light is yellow rather than red, it indicates a functional degradation of a convenience and safety subsystem rather than an immediate catastrophic mechanical failure of the engine, transmission, or primary braking systems. However, your vehicle’s active blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist functions will be completely disabled. You must rely entirely on traditional mirror adjustments and physical head checks to monitor surrounding traffic until the root electrical or sensor issue is professionally diagnosed and resolved.

Common Causes of the Warning

  • Radar Transceiver Obstruction or Misalignment: Accumulations of heavy mud, road salt, snow, or a minor rear bumper impact can misalign or block the microwave radar sensors mounted behind the rear bumper corners, preventing them from transmitting clear signals.
  • CAN Bus Communication Error: Intermittent data packet loss or wiring harness corrosion along the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus can disrupt communication between the rear radar modules and the Jetour body control module (BCM).
  • Sensor Electrical Power Failure or Ground Fault: Blown fuses, corroded multi-pin electrical connectors, or damaged wiring supplying 12-volt operational power to the BSM sensor modules will trigger an immediate fault state.

How to Diagnose and Reset It

Diagnosing the Jetour BSM warning light requires a systematic approach beginning with a visual inspection of the rear bumper fascia for dirt, ice, aftermarket bumper wraps, or physical damage directly over the sensor zones. If the exterior is clean, utilize an advanced OBD2 diagnostic scanner capable of reading manufacturer-specific chassis (C-codes) and network communication codes from the Jetour ADAS module. Connect the scanner to the 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the dashboard to retrieve active diagnostic trouble codes. Inspect the wiring harnesses and waterproof connectors located behind the rear bumper for signs of water ingress, terminal corrosion, or pin push-back. Using a digital multimeter, verify that the sensor harness is receiving proper system voltage and ground continuity. Once the underlying mechanical or electrical fault is repaired—such as clearing corrosion or replacing a damaged sensor—use the diagnostic scan tool to clear the trouble codes from the module memory and perform a static or dynamic radar calibration procedure to extinguish the warning light.
