From 1998 to 2005, the Saab D223L or 2.2 TiD 2.2-liter diesel engine was manufactured and fitted to a few of the Swedish company’s most well-known models with indexes 9-3 and 9-5. There are two versions of this type of diesel engine: the X22DTH engine and the Y22DTH unit.

D207E, D207L, D207R, D223L, and D308L are Saab diesel engines.

Disadvantages of the Saab D223L engine

Here, timing chains are not a very valuable resource, particularly for the upper
Fuel and oil are frequently combined because the gaskets beneath the injectors dry out;
The owners have a lot of problems when the system is aired;
Intake swirl flaps can fall off and land in the cylinders, and they frequently wedge;
This unit’s starter, vacuum pump, and EGR valve are also weak points.
