Only the redesigned model with the 9000 index in the EcoPower modification was equipped with the 2.3-liter Saab B234E turbo engine, which the company produced between 1994 and 1998. In its lineup, this 0.55 bar supercharged engine was thought to be the least powerful.

Disadvantages of the Saab B234E engine
This engine is dependable, and all of the breakdowns mentioned occur at high mileage; the block of balancers is the primary cause of these issues, and many people just remove it;
The ignition cassette frequently burns after lighting up or with an infrequent change of candles;
After 250,000 kilometers, the timing chain is extended and the oil pump typically wears out. In rare instances, the connecting rod caps have been unscrewed, which can be fatal for the engine.
