Engine Peugeot TUD3

The 1.4-liter Peugeot TUD3 diesel engine, which was manufactured in France between 1988 and 1994, was fitted to the company’s smaller models, including the Rover 100 and the AX or 106. This power unit lost three horsepower when it was upgraded for EURO 1 in 1992.

TUD5 is another member of the TUD line.

The engine was mounted on:

  • Peugeot 106 I (S1/S2) in 1993 – 2001;
  • Citroen AX I (ZA) in 1993 – 1995;
  • Rover 100 I (XP) in 1992 – 1994.

Disadvantages of the Peugeot TUD3 engine

The wet sleeve design, which was unusual for diesel engines, had a limited resource;
The engine frequently used a significant amount of oil at 100,000 kilometers;
After 150,000 kilometers, the motor simply caught a wedge due to critical piston wear; the timing belt in this instance does not last very long but changes with certain issues.
