The popular Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper, and Fiat Ducato minibuses were equipped with the 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12UTED, DW12U, or 4HY engine, which was manufactured from 2002 to 2006. An 8-valve cylinder head set this engine apart from others in the series.

DW12TED4, DW12BTED4, DW12CTED4, DW12MTED4, and DW12UTED are all part of the DW12 line.
The engine was mounted on:
- Peugeot Boxer I (J5) in 2002 – 2006;
- Citroen Jumper I (U5) in 2002 – 2006;
- Fiat Ducato II (230) in 2002 – 2006.

Disadvantages of the DW12UTED engine
Incredibly durable diesel engine that relies on the quality of diesel fuel.
The engine can easily travel more than 500,000 kilometers with regular fuel filter changes.
The engine’s only drawback is how challenging it is to disassemble the injectors for maintenance.
The power unit’s strong vibrations can be stopped by simply swapping out its supports.
The remaining issues are common and are related to clogged EGR valves or high pressure fuel pump leaks.
