From 2001 to 2006, the company produced the 2.9-liter twin-turbo Volvo B6294T engine, which was mounted on the top versions of the XC90 SUV and S80 sedan under the T6 index. In essence, this power unit is an improved version of the popular B6284T motor.

The B6284T, B6294S, and B6304S are members of the 6-cylinder modular engine family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Volvo S80 I (184) in 2001 – 2006;
- Volvo XC90 I (275) in 2002 – 2006.

Disadvantages of the B6294T engine
Twin-turbo units are well-known for their high consumption and pricey replacement parts;
The phase regulators, which frequently break and flow, are this motor’s weak point;
Additionally, the fuel pump and fan control unit frequently malfunction here;
Other issues include low engine mount resources and air leakage in the intake. The timing belt does not always serve the recommended 100,000 km, and when it breaks, the valves bend.
