Disadvantages of the 2AR-FSE engine
This motor is regarded as one of the most dependable in its class; the VVT-i produces a distinctive crackle when the engine is started;
There is a high risk of stretching a single-row timing chain after 200 thousand kilometers; the water pump occasionally fails after 50–80 thousand kilometers.
