Only the first generation of the Galaxy minivan was equipped with the 2.3-liter 16-valve Ford E5SA or 2.3 I4 DOHC engine, which was manufactured between 2000 and 2006, though it was already present in the redesigned model. This motor, a variant of the popular Y5A unit, was known as Y5B prior to the update.

ZVSA internal combustion engines are also part of the I4 DOHC line.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford Galaxy Mk1 in 2000 – 2006.

Disadvantages of the E5SA engine
This motor has almost no weak points, is dependable, and is quite voracious.
The timing chain mechanism may need to be adjusted on runs longer than 200,000 kilometers.
You can prevent floating speed by routinely cleaning the idle valve.
The front and rear crankshaft oil seals are the most common sources of oil leaks.
Hydraulic lifters frequently knock when poor-quality lubricant is used.
