Engine Ford CFBA

Only the third generation of the European Mondeo following the initial restyling was equipped with the 1.8-liter Ford CFBA or 1.8 Duratec SCi engine, which was manufactured between 2003 and 2007. Because of the unpredictable fuel system, this power unit has a bad reputation.

Disadvantages of the CFBA engine

This engine requires high-quality fuel because it has a direct injection system.
Soot and compression drops quickly overgrow intake valves for the same reason.
Low-quality gasoline clogs the tank’s filter and causes the fuel pump to malfunction.
Here, a valve cover frequently leaks, causing oil to spill into the candle wells.
The timing chain may need to be replaced after 200–250 thousand kilometers.
