From 2001 to 2012, Ford produced the 1.4-liter FXJA, FXJB, FXJC, or 1.4 Zetec SE engine, which was used in popular models like the Fiesta and the Fusion compact MPV built around it. All of these units were moved to EURO 4 and changed from Zetec to Duratec around 2004.

Internal combustion engines FUJA, FYDA, and MHA are also part of the Zetec SE line.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford Fiesta Mk5 in 2001 – 2008;
- Ford Fusion Mk1 in 2002 – 2012.

Disadvantages of the FXJA/FXJB/FXJC engine
Spark plugs and coils frequently fail in this engine, which dislikes poor fuel;
For the same reason, the fuel pump malfunctions and the tank’s filter mesh quickly clogs;
The timing belt and its roller may need to be replaced after the previously planned 120,000 kilometers;
The engine mounts and thermostat are also not the most dependable components;
Every 100,000 kilometers, valves must be adjusted because there are no hydraulic lifters.
