Since 2007, the company’s Tochigi plant has assembled the 3.8-liter Nissan VR38DETT engine, also known as VR38 for short. Only highly skilled specialists perform the manual assembly. Sports cars in the GT-R series use this twin-turbocharged drivetrain.

Sports 24 valves with variable valve timing (DOHC) are found in the VR38DETT engine. die-cast aluminum block coated with a 0.15 mm cylinder liner to shield the piston rings. The outlet manifolds incorporate two turbochargers to improve vehicle balance and reduce weight. Additionally, the engine has a sports pressure lubrication system that is thermostatically controlled.
The VR30DDTT, an internal combustion engine, is another member of the VR family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan GT-R 1 (R35) in 2007 – …;
- Nissan Juke-R 1 (F15) in 2012 – 2015.
