Disadvantages of the A9JA/A9JB engine

In contrast to their SE series counterparts, structurally straightforward RoCam motors are renowned for their dependability and modesty; they are not as demanding on fuel quality; using poor-quality oil significantly shortens the lifespan of hydraulic lifters; the timing chain may need to be replaced after 200–250 thousand kilometers; and many owners lament the engine’s noisy operation and difficulties starting in cold weather.
