Engine GM L3B

Since 2018, the Tennessee plant has been producing the 2.7-liter V6 General Motors L3B engine, which is fitted in all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive vehicles like the Cadillac CT4 and Chevrolet and GMC pickups. This motor’s modification, which derates to 237 horsepower and 353 Nm, is referred to by the index L2R.

  • Chevrolet Colorado 3 (GMT31XX-2) since 2023;
  • Chevrolet Silverado 4 (GMT1RC) since 2018;
  • GMC Canyon 3 (GMT31XX-2) since 2023;
  • GMC Sierra 5 (GMT1RG) since 2018.

Disadvantages of the GM L3B engine

When the engines from the first year of production were recalled, the wiring harness was replaced.
Carbon buildup on the intake valves is a problem for this engine, which only uses direct injection.
The quality of the gasoline in this area has a significant impact on both fuel injectors and injection pumps.
Additionally, there have been complaints regarding issues with the system that deactivates some of the AFM cylinders.
