Disadvantages of the GM LH7 engine

This is a contemporary diesel engine with urea injection and particulate and SCR filters.
As a result, the quality of service and fuel used determine how long an engine lasts.
The engine’s short timing chain resource—sometimes less than 100,000 kilometers—is its weakest point.
Additionally, the replacement is extremely difficult and costly because the chain is situated on the flywheel side.
Lubricant leaks or malfunctions during soot burning are the subject of the remaining complaints.
