Mercedes OM421 engines can produce 216 horsepower (159 kW). These motors have an 11-liter working area. These are 12-valve, 6-cylinder engines that can power an average load at low operating costs.

The Mercedes OM 421 engines are unique in that they perform well at low revs. Because of their turbocharging system, these units can produce more power with comparatively small cylinder volumes. They have V-shaped cylinders. A mechanical injection pump is used for prechamber fuel injection.
