The 400 engine series, which started development in 1969 and complemented the 300 series, includes the four-stroke Mercedes-Benz OM443 diesel engine. The OM 443 engine, which was created with consideration for Euro II environmental regulations, represents the second generation of V10 diesels of the 400 series.

Since the early 1990s, OM443 engines have been extensively utilized in large-capacity trucks and road machinery. Additionally, combine harvesters—specifically, the CLAAS Commador 228CS combine harvester—use this motor. They can ascend climbs of any length and difficulty. The motors are incredibly dependable and long-lasting. Additionally, compared to many analogues, their maintenance is less expensive for the owner.
