Mercedes-Benz and SsangYong Motors collaborated on the OM661 engine. It has a split combustion chamber, four cylinders, and a 2.3-liter working capacity. Cars like SsangYong Musso (Tagaz Partner), SsangYong Korando (Tagaz Tager), and some Mercedes models were fitted with engines from the 661 series.

The only distinction between this engine and the OM662 engine is that the OM662 has a different fuel system while the OM661 does not have a fifth cylinder. SsangYong (OM661 Mercedes) motors are more dependable, efficient, and simple to maintain.
