Production of the modern Scania DC 16 engine started in 2010. The engine satisfies the strict environmental requirements of Euro IV thanks to its Scania XPI (Common Rail) battery-type fuel injection system.

The DC16 is an air-to-air intercooler with a 4-stroke V-8 turbocharger. The engine has a remarkable 16-liter displacement.
