Engine Toyota 2E-E

From 1986 to 1992, the company produced the 1.3-liter Toyota 2E-E injection engine, which was used in the rear of the P70 and P80 as well as the sixth generation Corolla and Sprinter. This power unit’s modification with a catalyst in the exhaust has its own index, 2E-ELU.

  • Toyota Corolla 6 (E90) in 1987 – 1992;

  • Toyota Starlet 3 (P70) in 1986 – 1989; Starlet 4 (P80) in 1989 – 1992.

Disadvantages of the Toyota 2E-E engine

Above all, the engines in this series are prone to overheating, and the cylinder head gasket frequently cracks;
The valves may bend if the belt breaks, and the block’s head is typically ground multiple times;
Additionally, ignition system malfunctions cause a lot of issues for the owners; on long runs, piston rings frequently lie and the oil burn starts;
This place lacks hydraulic lifters, and you must check the valve clearances every 50,000 kilometers.
