From 2006 to 2017, the company produced the GM LY2 or Vortec 4800 4.8-liter V8 engine, which was used in Silverado pickups, Tahoe and Yukon SUVs, Express minibuses, and Savana minibuses. A variable valve timing system and its L20 index were added to this unit in 2009.

LR4, LM7, LY2, LY5, LFA, L92, and L86 are the Vortec line.

Disadvantages of the GM LY2 engine
Observe the state of the water pump and radiator, as overheating can cause numerous issues;
Camshaft liner wear is frequently caused by using poor oil;
Bad fuel causes the fuel pump to fail, the throttle to quickly get dirty, and ignition coil cracking frequently causes the power unit to triple.
The exhaust manifold bolts are still frequently unscrewed, causing its casing to fall off.
