Engine GM LY5

From 2006 to 2014, the American company produced the GM LY5 5.3-liter V8 engine, which was fitted to vehicles built on the GMT 900 platform, including the Chevrolet Tahoe, Silverado, and Suburban. This power unit has a Flexible-fuel modification with its own LMG index.

Disadvantages of the GM LY5 engine

The unit fears overheating, so monitor the water pump and radiator’s condition;
The fuel pump malfunctions and the throttle assembly becomes clogged due to poor fuel;
The primary reason for this engine’s tripling is ignition coil cracking;
Here, cutting back on oil frequently causes the camshaft liners to wear down quickly;
On their own, exhaust manifold bolts may become loose and eventually disappear.
