Engine Peugeot DV6BTED4

From 2005 to 2009, the Partner and Berlingo were equipped with the 1.6-liter Peugeot DV6BTED4 or DV6B 1.6 HDi 75 engine, which was replaced by the 8-valve DV6ETED engine. A version of the engine with the DV6BUTED4 index and a reinforced connecting rod and piston group was suggested.

DV6TED4, DV6ATED4, DV6BTED4, DV6CTED, DV6DTED, DV6ETED, DV6FCTED, DV6FDTED, and DV6FETED are additional diesels in the DV6 family.

The 75-hp DV6B diesel, which was essentially a scaled-down version of the 90-hp DV6A power unit, made its debut on the Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo in 2005. The motors are structurally similar: a 16-valve block head with hydraulic compensators, an aluminum block for four cylinders with cast-iron liners, and a combined timing belt and chain. The Bosch Common Rail system with electromagnetic injectors was used for this injection, and a Mitsubishi TD025 turbocharger without variable geometry was installed in all modifications.

Apart from the standard version of the engine with the 9HW index, there was also an advanced 9HT modification that was distinguished by camshafts with a different cam profile, a more efficient oil pump, and a reinforced connecting rod and piston group with slightly thicker liners. Such a diesel engine is referred to as DV6BUTED4 in various sources.

The engine was mounted on:

  • Citroen Berlingo I (M49/M59) in 2005 – 2008; Berlingo II (B9) in 2008 – 2009;
  • Peugeot Partner I (M49/M59) in 2005 – 2008; Partner II (B9) in 2008 – 2009.

Disadvantages of the DV6BTED4 engine

The hydraulic chain tensioner and camshaft cams were rapidly worn out in the early years of production of these engines, and the chain itself was frequently stretched up to 100,000 kilometers. These issues became extremely uncommon after the manufacturer improved the quality.

Many complaints are related to the turbocharger’s low resource, but typically this is due to a clogged coarse oil filter in the fitting of the tube that lubricates the power unit’s turbine rather than the turbocharger’s dependability.

Additionally, the EGR valve frequently clogs, the refractory washers beneath the nozzles frequently burn out and become loose, and oil and antifreeze leaks are frequently discovered here. Additionally, the camshaft is replaced here in addition to the rocker when the timing belt breaks.
