From 2014 to 2018, the Swedish company produced the 2.0-liter Volvo B4204T9 engine, which was fitted to the XC60 crossover in the T6 modification, the S60 sedan, and the V60 station wagon. The simultaneous presence of a Roots compressor and a turbine set this power unit apart.

The B3154T, B4204T23, and B4204T35 engines are also part of the Drive-E family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Volvo S60 II (134) in 2014 – 2018;
- Volvo V60 I (155) in 2014 – 2018;
- Volvo XC60 I (156) in 2014 – 2017.

Disadvantages of the B4204T9 engine
Oil consumption is the most well-known issue with the power units in this series; additionally, the cooling system tank pipe frequently burst during the early years of production;
The fuel injectors must be flushed every 60,000 kilometers to prevent failure;
Every 120,000 kilometers, the timing belt should be replaced because when it breaks, the valves bend. Owners occasionally report leaks in seals and from under the valve cover.
