Engine BMW N43B16

Produced since 2007, the N43B16 engine is a 1599 cc version of the N43. Developed based on the older N43B20, the small 1.6-liter 4-cylinder BMW N43B16 engine gradually replaced its predecessor, the N42B18. BMW vehicles with an index of 16i had the engine installed. Using the tried-and-true Valvetronic valve lift system is one of the motor’s features. Fuel is injected directly into the engine.

There are issues with vibration and floating rpm when running the BMW N43B16 engine.

The motor vibrates if the injectors need to be changed. The injectors must be inspected and replaced as soon as possible. Failure of the ignition coils could be the cause if the engine vibrates and floating speed is apparent. They ought to be examined and changed.

The vacuum pump needs to be replaced because it becomes unusable after about 80,000 kilometers. To avoid the power unit overheating, it is also advised to routinely assess the cooling system’s condition.
