Engine BMW N47D20

All of the company’s compact and medium-sized models, including Mini cars, are equipped with 2.0-liter BMW N47D20 diesel engines, which have been manufactured since 2007. Many Toyota compact vans and crossovers had these diesel engines installed for a while.

Disadvantages of the N47D20 engine

Stretching the timing chain on runs up to 100,000 kilometers is the motor’s most well-known issue;
The only way to replace the timing kit is to remove the engine, which is expensive;
The intake manifold’s swirl flaps rapidly fill with jam and soot;
The crankshaft damper has a limited capacity and might need to be replaced after 100,000 kilometers;
Long-term overheating of a diesel engine frequently results in cylinder cracks.
