Engine Subaru FB16

Since 2011, the Japanese plant has been producing the 1.6-liter Subaru FB16B gasoline engine, which powers popular company models like the Impreza and the crossover XV. In its family of motors, this power unit is the smallest and least potent.

The Levorg sports station wagon, which is well-liked in the local market, is the only vehicle that currently has the Subaru FB16F or FB16DIT installed. It has been manufactured since 2014. This device is a typical example of a third-generation turbo engine.

The FB20 and FB25 engines are also part of the FB family.

The FB16B was set up on:

  • Subaru Impreza 4 (GJ) in 2011 – 2016;
  • Subaru Impreza 5 (GK) since 2016;
  • Subaru XV 1 (GP) in 2011 – 2017;
  • Subaru XV 2 (GT) since 2017.

The FB16F or FB16DIT was installed on:

  • Subaru Levorg 1 (VM) in 2014-2020.

Disadvantages of the FB16B engine

This engine is not at all prone to oil consumption, in contrast to a comparable 2.0 liter engine;
The phase regulators will malfunction if you don’t use the recommended oil;
This engine is concerned about overheating, so keep an eye on the cooling system’s condition;
Look toward the throttle when the idle is floating because even a slight decrease in lubrication can cause the liners to rotate.

Disadvantages of the FB16DIT engine

This engine is sensitive to fuel quality, just like the majority of direct injection engines; poor gasoline frequently causes injectors, lambda probes, and a catalyst to malfunction;
The condition of the AVCS phase control system is rapidly impacted by cheap lubricant; only use the recommended oil and replace it every five to seven thousand kilometers.
