The popular Impreza model’s second and third generations were equipped with the 1.5-liter Subaru EL154 gasoline engine, also known as EL15, which was manufactured from 2006 to 2012. The design of this power unit is similar to that of the EJ series motors.

There is just one engine in the EL line.
The engine was mounted on:
- Subaru Impreza 2 (GD) in 2006 – 2007;
- Subaru Impreza 3 (GE) in 2007 – 2012.

Disadvantages of the EL15 engine
Almost all of this power unit’s issues have some connection to oil;
Here, oil consumption rises sharply from the first kilometers to 100,000 kilometers;
Low lubrication can cause the unit to turn the liners, and it is prone to leaks;
The cooling system is not renowned for its dependability, and the engine is highly thermally loaded;
Electronic throttle issues are typically the cause of floating rpm.
