The RB26DETT engine, also known as RB26, was primarily mounted on the Nissan Skyline GT-R in the R32, R33, and R34 Nissan Stagea 260RS bodies. The Nismo division created this engine for the Skyline R32 GT-R race car. Because of the engine’s great potential for power growth, the RB26DETT has become well-known throughout the world.

A toothed belt powers the timing mechanism. Unlike other RB series engines, the RB26DETT intake system has six throttle assemblies rather than one (one throttle valve for each cylinder). Two turbochargers (T28 ceramic turbines) are fitted to the engine. This type of system is known as Twin Turbo or parallel turbocharging.

Explanation of Nissan RB26DETT markings

Nissan markings its engines consistently, and the RB26DETT engine is no different. The engine series is defined by the initial letters of the designation. The figures represent the combustion chamber’s volume in deciliters. The various kinds of functions are indicated by the following letters.
| RB | Engine Series (R-Line) |
| 26 | Engine displacement, l x10 |
| D | The cylinder head has 4 valves per cylinder |
| E | Multipoint (Distributed) Electronic Fuel Injection |
| TT | The engine is equipped with two turbochargers (TWIN TURBO) |
Engine Features
Hydraulic valve lifters are absent. Instead, rigid pushers are employed. The choice of washers modifies the valves.
Six 45 mm-diameter throttle valves, one for each cylinder, are installed in the throttle assembly of the original intake system design.
absence of a variable valve timing system that is electronically controlled. The parameters for camshafts are 240/236 mm for phase and 8.58/8.28 mm for lift. A toothed belt powers the timing mechanism.
the cylinder block’s design without an oil channel.
