The 2.0-liter Nissan KA20DE engine, also known as KA20 for short, was built between 1999 and 2009. It is most frequently found under the Atlas truck’s hood, but it is more well-known for the wide range of Caravan minibuses. The Japanese company installed an additional power unit on its pickup trucks.

The KA24E and KA24DE internal combustion engines are also members of the KA family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan Caravan E24 in 1999 – 2001;
- Nissan Caravan 5 (E25) in 2001 – 2007;
- Nissan Navara 2 (D22) in 1999 – 2004;
- Nissan Atlas 10 (F23).

Disadvantages of the KA20DE engine
This gasoline engine has a resource of more than 300,000 kilometers and is highly dependable;
The timing chain tensioner may occasionally need to be replaced after 200,000 kilometers;
Periodically, approximately every 100,000 kilometers, valve clearances must be adjusted.
When the motor sump encounters an obstruction, it easily crumples and obstructs the oil receiver;
This device dislikes cheap oil, so choose your lubricant carefully.
