Engine Nissan KA24E

Although it was installed on many different models between 1988 and 1999, the 2.4-liter Nissan KA24E engine—also known as KA24 for short—is best known for the Pathfinder and Terrano SUVs. Many of the concerned pickup trucks have this power unit under the hood.

Disadvantages of the KA24E engine

Owners typically lament excessively high fuel or oil consumption;
Since there are no hydraulic lifters here, the valves must be adjusted on a regular basis;
Impact causes the engine pan to wrinkle easily, which increases the risk of the oil receiver becoming blocked;
It is frequently already necessary to replace the timing chain or its tensioner closer to 250,000 kilometers;
Cheap oil causes the power unit to cokes quickly, so it dislikes it.
