Mercedes’s OM904LA engines, which have a carrying capacity of 6.5 to 15 tons, are power units made for Mercedes-Benz Atego trucks. This modification’s motors completely meet the operational requirements in terms of economy and power.
The engines have four 4.25-liter in-line cylinders. The range of power in different modifications is 102 to 177 horsepower. These internal combustion engines (ICEs) offer superior traction characteristics and reduced fuel consumption due to their exceptional volume-to-power ratio.

The series’ environmental parameters were impacted by modernization between 2004 and 2006, which brought it closer to meeting Euro 4-5 requirements. increased torque while maintaining the motors’ power and speed. BlueTec technology is introduced, and supercharging with pre-air cooling is employed. While power is unaffected, emissions have drastically decreased—up to 80%—and the savings are even more apparent.
The most advanced models are the best in the class and satisfy Euro-6 requirements. Additionally, the ride quality was clearly affected by changes in the motor’s sensitivity. This is particularly noticeable on challenging routes, climbs with lots of stops, and traffic.
