The German company created the engines of the Mercedes OM 502 family to fit their Mercedes Actros trucks. Later on, though, they were widely used in a variety of automobile models, including those made by different manufacturers. These engines are distinguished by their low fuel consumption and high power. They are adept at handling both urban and intercity transportation situations.

The OM502LA engines meet Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards, are tested and dependable, and stand out for their high fuel efficiency. Three 15.9-liter V8 engines with 375 kW (510 horsepower) to 440 kW (598 horsepower) are part of the lineup.

The OM 502 LA engines come standard with a charge air cooling system and an outlet gas turbocharger. A motor brake (throttle valve and throttle valves) and a flare device are optional additions to the engine. The engines are characterized by exceptionally low outlet gas emissions and have a fully electronic system that controls the amount of fuel injected and the timing of the injection via solenoid valves.
The designers of the new generation of OM502LA engines concentrated their efforts on three additional areas: efficiency, safety, and minimizing negative environmental effects. The tried-and-true BlueTec system guarantees the OM 502 LA engines’ environmental compatibility.
