Engine Volkswagen BWK

Only the most basic versions of the highly popular Tiguan model were equipped with the 1.4-liter turbocharged Volkswagen BWK 1.4 TSI engine, which was assembled between 2007 and 2008. A comparable EURO 5 engine with the CAVA index soon replaced this power unit.

Disadvantages of the VW BWK engine

Compression decreases when soot overgrows intake valves due to poor gasoline.
Additionally, the pistons simply burn out as a result of detonation, so it is preferable to replace them with forged ones.
Lubricant consumption and oil scraper rings are frequently found within 100,000 kilometers.
Due to its limited resources, the timing chain frequently needs to be replaced every 100,000 kilometers.
Additionally, the turbocharger wastegate and control valve frequently malfunction.
Antifreeze leaks, typically in the intercooler area, are a frequent source of complaints from owners.
The intermittent vibration during a cold start is another annoying aspect.
