Produced since 2007, the 1.8-liter 16-valve Geely JLY-4G18 or JL4G18-D engine is found in many of the company’s models, but it is most well-known for the Emgrand EC7 sedan and X7 crossover. This engine is essentially a replica of the well-known Toyota 1ZZ-FE engine from Japan.

JLC-4G15, JLY-4G15, JLC-4G18, JLY-4G18, JLD-4G20, and JLD-4G24 are Toyota engine clones.

Disadvantages of the Geely JLY-4G18 engine
Although this unit is dependable, its build quality and componentry frequently fall short; sensor failures and air leakage from cracks are the main issues.
On runs of 100,000 to 150,000 kilometers, many owners had to replace the timing chain; closer to 200,000 kilometers, oil scraper rings typically lie and an oil burner appears; this motor is also criticized for its short-lived supports and lack of hydraulic lifters.
