Chinese versions of popular models like the Sonata, Tucson, and Sportage are equipped with the 1.5-liter Hyundai G4FS or Smartstream G 1.5 T-GDI engine, which has been manufactured since 2019. Concern cars from several other Asian nations also have this power unit.

Disadvantages of the Hyundai G4FS engine

Reviews on specialized forums are generally positive, with the exception of the Start-Stop system.
It has carbon buildup on the intake valves, just like all direct injection engines.
Additionally, the timing chain does not have a very high resource for engines in this family.
