Since 2020, the Hyundai G4LH 1.5-liter turbo engine, also known as the Smartstream G 1.5 T-GDi, has been put together on well-known Korean company models like the i30, Kia Ceed, and Xceed. This power unit’s power has been lowered from 160 horsepower to 150 horsepower, especially for certain markets.

G4LA, G4LF, G4LC, G4LD, G4LG, G4LH, and G4LE make up the Kappa R4 family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Hyundai i30 3 (PD) since 2020;
- Kia Ceed 3 (CD) since 2021;
- Kia XCeed 1 (CD) since 2021.

Disadvantages of the Hyundai G4LH engine
This engine, like all direct injection engines, has carbon deposits on the intake valves; on specialized forums, their complaints are limited to loud operation or excessive vibration;
On a run of less than 100,000 kilometers, the network details isolated instances of timing chain replacement;
The adsorber valve and short-lived engine mounts are the unit’s weak points.
