An improved version of the D28 engines that were previously manufactured are the MAN D2066 engines. These units were first developed using a cylinder-piston group with smaller dimensions. However, the developers were able to produce a high-power engine by utilizing contemporary materials and technologies, as well as by introducing some design modifications that have enhanced the product.

Ten years ago, the MAN D 2066 engine family was introduced. Because of the advancements and innovations made to the motor design, the line became well-known right away. The carrying capacity of trucks increased by the same amount as a result of the new diesel engine’s 100 kg weight reduction. Overall, there was a 25% decrease in metal consumption, which made the D2066 easier to maintain and repair and improved its efficiency and service life.

The D2066 has several improvements over its predecessor, including gas recirculation, a variable dedicated pump, and an optimized auto system for oil cooling. Additionally, the latter option has an auto-engine compressor brake that is electrically controlled. The engines are turbocharged with an intercooler, four valves per cylinder, and an overhead camshaft.
Four power settings were available for MAN D2066 engines: 310, 350, 390, and 430 horsepower. A single working volume of 10.5 liters is available for the entire range. Each of the motors in the series had a maximum torque of 1550, 1750, 1900, and 2100 Nm, and they all operated between 1000 and 1400 rpm. D2066 power units meet the environmental standards of Euro-4. The PM-Kat system and the upgraded exhaust gas recirculation system both contributed to increased exhaust cleaning. Diesel fuel consumption decreased by 5% concurrently.
