Depending on the version, the 12.4-liter D2676LF in-line 6-cylinder engines can meet Euro 3, Euro 4, and Euro 5 environmental standards. These engines use the EDC 7 electronic injection control system in conjunction with a common rail high pressure fuel injection system. (Control of Electronic Diesel).

The D2676 series of MAN engines has a one-piece cylinder head with an overhead camshaft (OHC, or Over-Head-Camshaft). The cylinder head features pressed-in replaceable valve guides and shrunken valve seat inserts. It is constructed of special cast iron. All four of the valves have valve stem seals installed on their guides. The rocker arms on the rocker arm shafts are individually replaceable and are used to actuate the valves. Exhaust valve brakes, or EVBs, are engine brakes on exhaust valves that are made of individually replaceable bridges.

The new D20 Common Rail and D26 Common Rail in-line six-cylinder diesel engines (R6) (engine numbers 1-3) are fitted to the TGS and TGX models. The engines are offered in two versions: the Euro 5 version, which is based on SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction, AdBlue as an exhaust emission additive), and the Euro 4 version, which has a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and PM-Kat® catalyst. The TGX range program is enhanced by the recently developed V8 Common Rail engine from the D28 engine family. The engines are fitted with an On-Board-Diagnose system, which includes a NOx sensor (torque reduction in the event of excess NOx emissions), in compliance with European regulations.
