The MAN D2156 is a joint Hungarian-German diesel engine that uses water cooling and direct injection of a combustible mixture.

Ikarus 250 buses frequently use this engine. The water-cooled RABA-MAN D 2156 features a combined forced lubrication system. A Bosch fuel pump, an STA injection regulator, and injectors power the fuel system. A cyclone pre-filter and an oil bath air cleaner are used to clean the air.

Although the RABA-MAN D 2156 engine has respectable dynamics (100 km/h), its low power results in poor acceleration. This motor is easy to maintain, dependable, and straightforward. Its drawbacks include a limited resource, which is also a result of the motor’s low power and, consequently, continuous high-speed operation. Transport on such engines gets increasingly smoky and noisy over time due to muffler burnout or improper engine operation.
