The performance of the engines in the MAN D 2876 series is exceptional. High efficiency because of minimal fuel consumption and high tractive power even at low speeds. Powerful acceleration and quick response to commands, low operating costs and long service life, high efficiency combined with low weight, compact design, worldwide service network with fast delivery of spare parts.

At 900 rpm, six-cylinder, 24-valve turbodiesels with a 12.8-liter capacity can produce 460 horsepower and 2100 Nm of torque. The conventional electronically controlled in-line high-pressure fuel pump (STP) is still used in the engines. Instead of utilizing unit injectors or other fuel systems, the company’s engineers simply installed an exhaust recirculation system to bring the engine up to the Euro 3 environmental standard. A portion of the gases from the exhaust manifold are released into the heat exchanger, where they cool to 200 degrees Celsius before being returned to the intake manifold to mix with the fresh air that enters the engine. This solution enables a 30% reduction in the amount of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases.

The diesel engine’s design features cause it to cool down quickly at idle speed (roughly 600 rpm). Therefore, the cabin becomes extremely cool without using “AWtonomka.” If you would prefer not to activate the autonomous heater, you can use electronic cruise control to increase the idle speed and allow the engine to warm up.
Euro-3 and Euro-4 standards are met by D2876 engines. Every engine has an EVB engine brake or the more recent EVBec. The EVBec system can also be used in conjunction with a MAN Pritarder retarder.
