Produced between 1994 and 2000, the 2.5-liter Peugeot DK5ATE or THY diesel engine was limited to the French company’s flagship models, the Citroen XM and the Peugeot 605. In essence, this power unit is an adaptation of the commercial DJ5TED motor.

The engine was installed on:
- Peugeot 605 I (Y30) in 1994 – 1999;
- Citroen XM I (Y3/Y4) in 1994 – 2000.

Disadvantages of the DK5ATE engine
This diesel engine is thought to be highly erratic and challenging to fix;
The cylinder head cracking caused by overheating is his primary issue;
The turbine and hydraulic lifters are rapidly impacted by non-original oil; the prechambers may crack and fall into the cylinders during runs exceeding 300,000 kilometers; and the majority of the spare parts for this engine are extremely costly and uncommon.
