Engine SsangYong D23DT

From 1993 to 2006, the 2.3-liter diesel engine SsangYong D23DT, also known as OM 661, was assembled and fitted on popular Korean SUVs like Korando and Musso. This motor is a replica of the Mercedes OM601 and comes in atmospheric and supercharged versions.

Disadvantages of the SsangYong D23DT engine

This pre-chamber diesel engine has an in-line Bosch high-pressure fuel pump and is dependable and long-lasting;
The cylinder head frequently cracks, so it’s important to keep an eye on the cooling system’s condition;
Here, saving oil shortens the lifespan of the fuel pump and hydraulic lifters; injector nozzles and glow plug wiring are additional weak points; the timing chain is pulled or the turbine frequently fails during extended runs.
