Before being restyled, the 1.9-liter Volvo B4194T turbo engine was assembled at the company’s plant between 1997 and 2000 and fitted to charged versions of the S40 sedan or V40 station wagon. Models with the T4 index were equipped with the most potent power unit in the series.

The B4164S, B4164S2, B4184S, B4184S2, and B4194T are members of the 2.0-liter modular engine family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Volvo S40 I (644) in 1997 – 2000;
- Volvo V40 I (645) in 1997 – 2000.

Disadvantages of the B4194T engine
This turbo engine has an amazing resource and is dependable despite the forcing;
Oil consumption from clogged crankcase ventilation is the subject of numerous complaints;
The wear of the turbine shaft is the primary cause of the oil burn near 200,000 kilometers;
The engine’s weak points include the fuel pump, the control unit, and several sensors. The timing belt does not always run the recommended 90,000 km, and when it breaks, the valves bend.
