Only two company models—the Frontera SUV and the Sintra minivan—were equipped with the 2.2-liter Opel X22DTH or LL9 diesel engine, which was manufactured between 1998 and 2000. The diesel engine received the Y22DTH index and started to comply with EURO 3 after modernization in 2000.

The X17DTL, X20DTL, and X20DTH engines are also part of the X family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Opel Frontera B (U99) in 1998 – 2000;
- Opel Sintra A (APV) in 1998 – 1999.

Disadvantages of the X22DTH engine
The owner’s primary issues are the fuel system’s frequent airing;
The Bosch VP44 injection pump’s electrical component experiences a fair number of malfunctions;
Numerous instances of crankshaft failure during tight driving are reported on the specialized forums;
Diesel fuel becomes contaminated with lubricant when the gaskets beneath the nozzles dry;
You will experience particulate filter or EGR valve contamination even before 100,000 kilometers.
