Two well-known concern crossovers, the Opel Antara and the Chevrolet Captiva, were equipped with the 2.4-liter Opel Z24SED or LD9 engine from 2006 to 2011. With a brand-new cylinder head, this power unit was the successor to the engines from the 1970s.

The engines Z20LET, Z22SE, Z22YH, Z28NET, and Z32SE are also members of the Z family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Opel Antara A (L07) in 2006 – 2010;
- Chevrolet Captiva C100 in 2006 – 2011.

Disadvantages of the Z24SED engine
The motor’s fear of the cold is its only drawback; otherwise, it is dependable;
Strong vibrations at work and excessive fuel consumption are common complaints from owners;
The oil seal in the rear crankshaft has a limited supply and frequently flows at 70,000 kilometers;
The timing belt is supposed to be changed at 120,000 kilometers, but I suggest cutting the interval in half;
Oil leaks and a clogged crankcase ventilation system are linked to the remaining malfunctions.
